Wedding Fridays | Bridesmaid Dresses & Ties
The title of this post is a bit misleading. The bridesmaids will not be wearing ties however I am happy to say that all of my bridesmaids have their dresses! :) I have also picked out ties for the groomsmen to match the bridesmaid dresses. We will give the ties to the groomsmen as part of their gift.
When I last updated on the bridesmaid dresses we just had one cute little check next to Loren’s dress and a sold out flower girl dress that I would have loved for Brianna. Fast forward to 6 months later (holy cow has it been that long already?) to this week and we have slowly but surely found beautiful dresses for all my beautiful ladies! Jen’s dress was the next dress that we found after deciding on Loren’s dress and the colors. We got lucky once again and found a new Lela Rose bridesmaid dress in buttercup on ebay for $75! Amazing as this dress retails for $250. Jen will have to get a few alterations done to the dress but it should still come in way less than retail price. The yellow color is beautiful and almost cantaloupe (as Jen has coined it) and the fabric it so pretty. This dress is going to look stunning on Jen’s gorgeous, tan self. For Kristin, we were looking for the perfect shade of red: not exactly apple red but a soft, rosy red . We managed to find a very lovely dress at the retail store she works at while in college. We ordered it online since they do not sell it in stores and with sales and free shipping got the dress for $60. The dress fit her “to a t” and has a similar feel to Jen’s dress with both having sheer fabric overlays. She plans to get a thin silver belt to add a little something extra to the simple but stunning dress.
That only left us with needing a dress for Carrie and my little sister Brianna. I was pretty much smitten with the fabric from the sold out J.Crew dress and thought it would have tied all the bridesmaid dresses together so perfectly. Almost too hooked on the dress that I had a hard time envisioning anything else. My stepmom, Janet, was very helpful and set out on a search to find something else for Brianna to wear. She even called J.Crew and had them put a search on any Claribel dress that might be found or returned. I continued to regularly search ebay and stalk the internet until I eventually found the same dress in a size 8. Unfortunately, the dress fit Brianna a little too snug and we worried she would out grow it by October. Sadness ensued. Then a few months later as I was wishfully shopping on J.Crew Factory online I came across a dress with the pattern, Golden Beach. The fabric was exactly the design I had fallen so hard for last fall! On hope and a prayer I went to the J.Crew Outlet in Mebane, NC and found a girl’s dress in my beloved pattern! Oh blissful day! For a little over $40 the adorable dress came home with me that day and will look so cute on Brianna on our wedding day. We are going to find a purple ribbon to tie around Bree’s waist to finish off the look.

As for Carrie’s bridesmaid dress, you may notice that I haven’t put a check mark yet. With my best friend living in Germany, it’s a bit harder than just buying a dress and hoping it fits. Through a week of back and forth emails, Carrie and I, have picked a sassy Cynthia Rowley dress in the Clementine color. Once she has confirmed she likes the fabric swatch being sent to her then I will purchase her dress along with all of the groomsmen’ ties. The ties are by Jean Yves Tango and are monochromatic striped to match the color of the girls’ dresses. Pulling from the guy’s gray suits, the girls will all have some shade of gray or silver shoes.
What are your thoughts on bridesmaid dresses being re-wearable? Do you have a favorite dress from a past wedding that you wear all the time or 7 bridesmaid dresses sitting in your closet?
