Wedding Fridays | Venue No. 1: River Ridge Golf Club
Over the weekend of July 4th I went to check out the River Ridge Golf Club as a potential location for our wedding ceremony and reception. The club house has a real grand feeling but with the straight lines of the columns I thought it looked modern and didn’t scream vintage or southern country. The ceremony location is to the right of the club house on an open field over looking the course. I didn’t love the fact that my guest would be sitting in essentially what is an open field. I really imagine my ceremony tucked in a nestle of trees. Because I don’t plan to decorate the ceremony space much I want the ceremony location to be eye catching on its own.

The coverage pavilion for the reception was my favorite part of this venue. I loved that it would still be an outdoor reception with great views of the golf course but that in case of bad weather, I wouldn’t need a tent! While waiting for Craig to meet me I tried to scope out some photography spots and discover a cute alcove of trees. I also got a bit bored and took about 10 pictures of my cute flats. :) I didn’t spot a ton of interesting photography locations but I am sure a professional photography could make this venue look gorgeous and sun-drenched. Because let’s face it… it’s just a golf course not a ton of character or uniqueness.

One notable plus for River Ridge is the spectacular sunsets (image credits: River Ridge Golf). How beautiful is that?? Love!
I have shared a few of my cons and pros of River Ridge Golf Club as a potential venue for our October 2011 wedding, now I want to hear your thoughts! Have you ever been to a wedding on a golf course? I think the cute little touches are endless: spiked Arnold Palmers, monogramed golf tees as gift, hole numbers for table numbers, golf cart as a get away vehicle! Thanks for sharing your thoughts and helping me pick a venue! I plan to do a summary of all your +’s and -’s after sharing all three options.

the pics are pretty! but i think you have your heart somewhere else <3 I love youu!
I like this location for a few reasons.
1. It’s a clean slate. The sky is the limit for colors, patterns, styles, etc.
2. It’s a BEAUTIFUL clean slate. You could choose other places that are simple enough to take in whatever direction you choose. But while simple, this place still has style.
3. No tents, no tents, no tents!
I only have one con.
1. You’re going to have to invest more than you planned to create a cozy ceremony area. But could you allocate money you’d save on a tent for this?
